Seize the (every)day!

It’s raining cats and dogs, you’ve had a cold since October, your skin is now see-through and you can’t remember what colour the sun is. Carpe diem! Yep, we just said it. So whether you hate it or you actually have the words painted on your living room wall, this is exactly what we need during this dark and wet time of the year. So, introducing… our carpe diem guide!

You wake up and realise you’ve overslept, but you still take the time to dance the crazy boogie in the shower. Kudos. You can’t find a towel and have to do the naked dash of shame through the apartment but you think hey, I’ll dry quicker that way. Genius. You spill coffee on your shirt, but who wants to be perfect. Never mind. You get stuck in traffic on the way to work, but still sing your head off to that chart topper from ’86. It never gets old. You step in a puddle on your lunch break, so you jump in it again. And again. And again! Fun. You stretch your calf muscle at the gym, but treat yourself to a massage on the way back. Luxury. You’re late for a meeting, but seize the moment to make a Kramer entrance. Like you’ve wanted to do since the first season of Seinfeld. You get home and realise the fridge is empty. Perfect. You call a friend. Head for your favourite place. And suddenly you’re at a nicely set table with colourful cocktails, crispy fries, delicious dumplings and divine desserts. Tasty. You put your head on the pillow and think, what a brilliant day that was. After all.

Seven challenges for more fun in your day:

Did you know that the words were originally written by Roman poet Horace? The whole sentence was “Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero”, which means “Seize the day, put very little trust in tomorrow”.
